Kinshasa, November 18, 2013(caritasdev.cd) : as part of the fight against acute malnutrition in Bandundu province, in South-west Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Caritas Congo Asbl, in collaboration with UNICEF, are committed for the nutritional rehabilitation.
Three health zones are concerned and are Kimbao, Moanza and Muela lembwa. These health zones are located in the territories of Kenge, Masi Manimba and Feshi in the district Kwango, reports caritasdev.cd
Before the opening and launch scouting activities and care in therapeutic nutrition units, training was given to providers and community volunteers. Cer was compared to the integrated management of acute malnutrition (IMAI) and the infant and young child feeding (IYCF). As result: Team Diocesan Office of Medical Works (BDOM) Kenge, the representative of the health district Kwango and members of under three areas of health (ECZS) Teams were made capable of ensuring the implementation project and manage the partnership with Caritas Congo Asbl National Nutrition Programme (PRONANUT) and UNICEF.
Besides the training of members of BDOM and HZMT, 30 outpatient therapeutic nutritional units (UNTA) and 6 intensive therapeuti c nutrition units (UNTI) were opened and were made operational. [230/2013]
