Goma
- At the end of last week, an MSF surgeon and anaesthetist stepped in at Virunga hospital in Goma where more than 60 patients have been admitted with conflict-related injuries. They are performing around 10 surgeries per day.
- Displacement has reached record levels with hundreds of thousands of people currently displaced - the Mugunga camps outside Goma have had around 45,000 new arrivals since the fall of the city
- MSF has scaled up its intervention in the camps and is currently doing more than 200 free medical consultations per day as well as constructing latrines and showers
Masisi/Mweso
- Although Goma is calm for the moment, elsewhere in the province fighting continues: on Sunday alone, medical teams in Masisi general hospital treated 21 people shot in fighting; and in Mweso hospital, doctors treated 27 for conflict-related wounds
Minova
- Teams have been able to cross frontlines to donate medical supplies to the hospital in Minova as well as to 950 families scattered along the road
- The Minova hospital has registered 26 cases of sexual violence and 200 wounded in the last seven days
MSF is running hospitals and dozens of health centres that provide free healthcare to thousands each month in Rutshuru, Masisi, Mweso, Kitchanga, Walikale, Mugunga displaced camps, Kanyaruchinya and Pinga
